Rules to Wear Pearls

Wearing pearl jewelry the correct way will help you look sophisticated and fashionable, and less like your grandmother. Pearls can be worn at any age, and still look contemporary, when using these simple rules. Their simple, yet elegant appearance make pearls great accessories at the office, at night and even when running daily errands.

Rule 1: Wear the Right Pearls for Your Body Type
Choose right color
KS Pearls Charlotte-1Skin tone is a big factor whenever you’re making ANY fashion choice. From the hues of your make up to the fabric of your clothing, skin tone will dictate what looks great, and what’s not so hot. When choosing pearls, the general rule is pale skin tones pair best with rosy tones, and darker or olive skin tones pair better with cream or golden tones. Pure white pearls are great with any skin tone however, and can bring an elegant and timeless touch to your look.
Choose right size and length
Select pearls that flatter your body type. The choker style necklace, with pearls of equal size, works best with a tall frame. Fuller frames may want to stay away from small pearl pieces and go for bolder, larger pearls. The Princess length, at 42 – 45 cm, is the most versatile and popular necklace among women. It nicely suits most occasions.

Rule 2: Wear Trendy Pearls with Everyday Clothing
KS Pearls Charlotte-24With everyday attire, have a little fun with your pearl jewelry. If you pair a classy top with jeans, add pearls to create a trendy and fashionable look. Choose chunky pearls, colored pearls or layer different strands of pearls. With everyday attire, do not wear pearl earrings, necklaces and bracelets together, or it will overpower your look and you will appear overdressed. If you have short hair or wear your hair up, wear dangling pearl earrings to bring attention to your neck and face. Wear long or different colored strands of pearl necklaces with a solid-color top. Pair several strands of pearl bracelets on one wrist with a short-sleeve shirt.

Rule 3: Choose Ornate Pearls for Evening Engagements
KS Pearls Charlotte-45The pearls create an elegant and feminine when paired with an evening gown. Opt for colored pieces, large and long when you wear a solid color dress or suit small pearls when wearing elaborately embellished. At night, wear necklaces, earrings and bracelets in combination. If you wear your hair up, opt for ornate dangling earrings. If your evening attire is sleeveless, choose a combination of pearl necklace and bracelet.

Rule 4: Wear Classic Pearls to the Office
KS Pearls Charlotte-49Opt for understated, simple pieces to wear to the office. Wearing one strand at a time adds polish and sophistication to your attire. Pearl necklaces for the office should not fall past your bust line, and should complement, but not overpower, your complete look. Pair a short strand of pearls with a business suit, or wrap a long strand of pearls around your wrist. Wear stud pearl earrings with your work attire. To appear professional, do not wear more than one pearl accessory at a time.
For instance, do not pair your pearl necklace with a pearl bracelet and earrings. You want your client to focus on your work, not your jewelry.

Rule 5: Mix it Up
KS Pearls Charlotte-34Wear pearls in unexpected ways by combining and layering them with other jewelry. Pearls look best when paired with gold, diamond, and crystal. Consider transforming your pearl necklace by twisting it into a loose bracelet. Wildly mix different colors, sizes and types of pearls for a fashionable look.
